You can only warn a person so many times... After a while, one begins to understand that no amount of advice is going to help if the person does not, in fact, want to be helped. I've learned that sometimes it's best to just let them figure it out on their own.
It's sad though, when you know from experience that so much pain and suffering can be avoided.
